Ocutec is a privately owned organisation developing exciting new technology, and is initially focused on delivering disposable contact lenses with significant manufacturing cost reductions, in addition to a superior and sustainable all day wearing experience. These twin advantages can transform the contact lens industry. Proof of concept has already been obtained, with the synthesis of preferred candidate polymers and manufacture of market comparable lenses. The material, physical and biocompatibility evidence is strong. The company has attracted major governmental “Smart” grant awards from the Scottish Government to develop its patented core technology.
