Ocutec Limited was formed in 2001 to take advantage of the world- leading materials science expertise of Professor Neil Graham and his team at the University of Strathclyde. In particular, the company sought to exploit the potential of PEG materials in biomedical applications.

Selecting contact lenses as its lead programme, the company has in a relatively short period, delivered notable proof of concept, investment and commercialization milestones. The first lens was CE marked in autumn 2009 and is due to complete trials in 2010. Ocutec operates from its own laboratories and manufacturing facility just outside Glasgow.
